Just like the state of Texas, this hole is big and long! From the tees, the broad
panoramic views across the open rolling landscape are remarkable and stunning. This
three-shot hole is flanked by 15 bunkers. The bunkers are all set at angles to the
ideal line of play creating several strategic options from tee to green. The tee
shot should be played over the first fairway bunker that is cut into the right face
that runs along the right side of the landing area. From this location, depending
on how far the tee shot travels, several options to the second landing area are
available. The bold line of play is over the cluster of bunkers to the front left
of the second landing area. From this location the green is visible and open. The
second option is to hit to the front of the large serpentine bunker that runs along
the right side of the second landing area and green. From this location the green
is blind but a wedge is all that is required to find the green.
The green site is perched along the terminus of the strong ridge that runs down
the entire left side of the hole. The green has the shape of a large boomerang.
The back left pin location will be hard to find with an approach from the left side
of the fairway. Par is achievable with three good shots and a couple of putts. Birdie
is outstanding!
"All of Texas" could be one of the most dramatic holes at Wolfdancer. To see this
hole at sunrise with the tremendous shadows that are cast from the bunkers and landforms
is quite simply as good as it gets!
