354 yards. A wonderful final hole. The hole's short length provides a short shot to the green, an opportunity to finish with a birdie. The bunkering frames the hole an creates a number of hazards both off the tee and around the green. The greenside bunkers are dramatic visually and present a playing challenge. The putting surface is sharply sloped. The small swale to the right of the green is appropriately known as Death Valley.
There is a distinct advantage to playing a shot to a particular side of the cup over most of the green. The green sits in the middle of a large natural amphitheater which can easily accommodate in excess of 5000 spectators.
A new championship tee was constructed eight feet to the left, and elevated three feet. The remaining tees were aligned and re-grassed. The first right side bunker was replaced with three smaller pot bunkers, in keeping with the original design.
The remaining fairway bunkers, were repaired and bottom leveled to correct shifting sand over the years. the greenside bunkers were deepened one foot in a similar fashion. The back fifteen feet of the putting surface was reclaimed in accordance with pictures.
A bunker on the rear left of the green was put back in the original form and location as it sat in 1920.
