Links at Lighthouse Sound
Ocean City, Maryland
"The Links at Lighthouse Sound is on a spectacular site. It was very satisfying
to be able to complete an environmentally-sensitive project that had been in the
planning stages for many years."- Steve Forrest
Principal
The prime 1,000-acre tract, which overlooks the Ocean City skyline, features 15
holes along the tidal marshes of the Assawoman Bay and the St. Martin's River. The
developer, Tom Ruark, revised the master plan for Lighthouse Sound in 1996 to limit
the residential component to only 96 homesites leaving all the prime land for the
golf course routing. By doing so, 700 acres of wooded wetlands and pristine marsh
were preserved.
The course provides a great diversity of holes that would rival any golf course
in the country. It features a unique blend of modern, classical and links style
design. As good as the holes are along the bay; the golfers who have played the
course love the classical feel of the tree-lined holes of number 9 through 14.
